POCCA Meeting

Join us Friday, April 25th in the “Magic City” on the campus of Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham Alabama for the seventh annual Point of Care Coordinators of Alabama (POCCA) meeting. This day long event will showcase numerous speakers

speaking on the topic, “Building a Successful Point of Care Department.”

 

Spotlighting the event a feature presentation will be given by the 2001 AACC Point of Care Coordinator of the Year, Lou Ann Wyer. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn key components needed in building and maintaining a successful point of care. There will be a luncheon, vendor fair and door prizes. Speakers

Lou Ann Wyer
A Clinical Specialist for POCT and Quality Management since 1996, Lou Ann has overseen the growth of POCT through laboratory integration and system expansions. Her program now encompasses 185 glucose meters, 100 handheld blood gas and electrolyte instruments, 25 ACT instruments, as well as rapid coagulation testing, and numerous

manual POC tests. She provides technical expertise for POCT system processes, instrumentation, quality outcomes, accreditation issues and the development of new programs. In July 2000, the Sentara Warfarin monitoring program was chosen by the Van Slyke Society to receive a grant for Outcome Measurements in POCT.

From I-65 North

  • Take I-65 North to the Green Springs Avenue Exit (#258)

  • Turn left at the top of the ramp and follow Green Springs Avenue to the 4th traffic light

  • Turn right onto Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and go 1.6 miles (or to the 6th traffic light) until you reach the Princeton campus on your left

From I-65 South

  • Take I-65 South to 20 West/59 South toward Tuscaloosa

  • Take the Arkadelphia Road Exit (#123) and turn left at the top of the exit ramp

  • Follow Arkadelphia Road 1.7 miles until you reach the Princeton campus

From I-20/59 West

  • Take 20 West/59 South to the Arkadelphia Road Exit (#123) and turn left at the top of the exit ramp

  • Follow Arkadelphia Road 1.7 miles until you reach the Princeton campus

From I-20/59 East

  • Take 20 East/59 North to the Arkadelphia Road Exit (#123) and turn right at the top of the exit ramp

  • Follow Arkadelphia Road 1.5 miles until you reach the Princeton campus

From Highway 78

  • Take 78 East to Arkadelphia Road and continue on Arkadelphia until you reach the Princeton campus (1.7 miles from I-20/59)
