Hemostasis is
the process by which the body spontaneously stops bleeding and
maintains blood in the fluid state within the vascular compartment.
One way the body is able to maintain hemostasis is through the use
of platelets. This session will discuss the platelet basics and the

James Campbell, MPHA, MT(ASCP)
is the Divisional Manager of Helena Point of Care’s Hemostasis.
Prior to his current position James was the Product Manager of
Helena Plateletworks’ point of care. He is also affiliated with the
International Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis.
Richard Heitsman is Manager CQI-Health
Systems-Dade Behring. Prior to his current position, Richard was a
Cardiac Care Specialist with Dade Behring. He is also affiliated
with National Society of Cardiovascular Administrators and the
American Heart Association Council on Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis,
and Vascular Biology.
