Devices:
Perspectives from the Hospital, Government and Vendors
JOHNS HOPKINS BAYVIEW MEDICAL CENTER
ASTHMA AND ALLERGY CENTER
PULMONARY CONF. ROOM 4B44
4940
Eastern Avenue,
Baltimore,
Maryland 21224
DESCRIPTION:
-
The US Food and
Drug Administration (FDA) recently held a public forum on glucose
meter devices to gather wide perspectives on the clinical
requirements for blood glucose meter accuracy and precision.
-
Using the CLSI
consensus process in gathering balanced viewpoints from industry,
professional societies,
and government bodies, this educational program will provide an
overview of different perspectives surrounding the glucose device
acceptance criteria for both selftesting and professional use, and
possibly expand the presentations at the most recent FDA public
meeting.
OBJECTIVES:
At the conclusion of
this program, the participant will be able to:
-
Identify
different considerations surrounding acceptance criteria on
point-of-care (POC) glucose devices.
-
Describe
differences on the use of glucose meters in self-testing vs hospital
or professional settings.
-
Recognize the
need to understand the differences on the perspectives of the
government agency, professional
expert, and POC glucose vendor representative based on the data
provided during the presentation.
