SPEAKERS

Pam Kotynski from TriHealth will present and discuss successful implementation of POCT in the Emergency Department.

Irina Lutinger and Debra Beach, Adapted from ThinkLab ‘08

The legacy of your leadership is determined by

what happens after you leave your office. Your successor is usually held accountable for these events, as effective succession planning rarely gets put on an executive’s priority list. As a leader and executive in the health-care profession, and as a professional who cares about the excellence of your body of work, you need to engage in aggressive succession management.

Active succession management is one of the best ways to protect the long- term health of an organization. The conventional wisdom for succession management involves beginning the process early, looking inside the organization, and developing experience and skills in prospective successors.

This session will present effective and experience-proven succession management tactics used by benchmark organizations, add innovative and unconventional wisdom to your own practices, and generate open discussion about several case studies where succession management is an art.

Doug Wojciesak, Founder Sorry Works! Coalition

Doug will be lecturing from the SorryWorks! book. He will provide an overview of the disclosure movement, including disclosure success stories, the elements of a successful disclosure program, and how to apologize to patients and families post-adverse event. This presentation will be an excellent introduction into disclosure and apology for adverse medical events and medical errors.

Christopher Young

Well known in both the CLMA and Compliance communities, Chris is one of the experts that we in the laboratory world turn to as a compliance resource. This session will be a moderated panel discussion on the regulatory, compliance and reimbursement issues related to Point of Care testing (POCT). Panel members from various settings and backgrounds will provide their perspective on questions or issues raised by the moderator concerning POCT. The session will also include a brief overview on how to use the Internet to find information about regulatory, compliance and reimbursement issues when questions arise in these areas.

There will be ample opportunity to ask questions of the panel members and the moderator during the session. At the conclusion of this presentation the participant will be able to:

  • Make sense of the various regulatory and compliance issues that apply to POCT testing.

  • Understand the ins and outs of reimbursement for POCT

  • Get specific questions about POCT in your hospital or facility answered by the panel
