This award is funded by

support attendance at the AACC Annual Meeting. The
recipient, Elizabeth Vadasdi, is from New York-
Presbyterian Hospital, Weill – Cornell Medical Center.

Elizabeth
Vadasdi is the manager of POCT at New York- Presbyterian
Hospital, Weill – Cornell Medical Center. She has
overseen the growth of POCT from replacing visual
glucose reading at a few patient care locations to
actively participating in the hospital’s Tight Glycemic
Control patient management at 65 nursing units. Today
95% of blood gas testing is performed at the bedside by
nurses, respiratory therapists and physicians.
Mrs.Vadasdi expanded the visibility of Clinical
Laboratories at Cornell through her POCT activities. By
collaborating with the caregivers and the diagnostic
device manufacturers she has promoted the education,
acceptance, deployment and management of POCT. She is
constantly searching for innovative solutions to provide
state of the art POCT service.
Mrs. Vadasdi is an active
member of the AACC. She has served on the
ACCENT Credit Review Board of AACC, and was a member of
Executive Committee and ACCENT Credit Officer of AACC
New York Metropolitan Section for several years. She has
received a recognition award for Outstanding Service and
Dedication in support of the AACC New York Metropolitan
section.
Mrs. Vadasdi has published
articles in Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine.
She has presented posters and seminars on various
aspects of point of care testing.
This auspicious
award, sponsored by the AACC CPOCT Division and
funded by Lifescan, Inc., a Johnson & Johnson
company, includes an honorarium and an elegant
trophy. The award will be presented on Tuesday, July
17th at the
CPOCT Membership Mixer and Business
Meeting, from
6:00-8:00pm.
